About Outer Rim Bound
O.R.B. started as a love letter to the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser and everything the Halcyon experience inspired in me. After disembarking, I went on to flesh out the backstory for my character, creating a few companions and struggles for him along the way.
His story played out through a game of sorts. Our previous iteration offered players puzzles, treasure hunts and glimpses of life in space in a mixed media art project spanning video, animation, web-design, fan fiction and experimental gamification.
A few dedicated scoundrels among you intercepted the distress calls from Outer Rim Bound’s crew and assisted Fi Diovir and his Mon Cal partner Brelyoh Okbe in solving the mystery of the shipwreck that stranded them in our galaxy… far, far away from their home. If it weren’t for the work of slicers here on Earth their trusty (but distrusting) droid D4-T4 would have been lost forever, their circuits burnt, programming scrambled.
It’s a bit sad to see the Halcyon star cruiser, such a fun and unique experience, be lost to time, and to close out our story because of her retirement. But the creative energy that came from seeing the dedication of the Halcyon’s creators, cast and crew has not worn off. At least not yet.
So we’re doing what we can to keep the excitement alive, and add a few minutes of fun to your day. If there’s one thing every Halcyon passenger has learned, it’s that taking a little time to just play can change everying!
